The Sony SRS XB13 Charging Indicator is a small LED near the bottom of the button panel. This displays charge status. So you can partly tell whether it’s draining or charging, or is very low. But it neither reads out charging progress, or how much charge is in the speaker. But it does flash when the speaker reaches near-dead state. Thus in this post, we describe how to read this Charging Indicator lamp on the XB13.
Sony SRS XB13 Charging Indicator: How to Read the Light
1. The Light is OFF
The charging indicator (CHARGE) lamp is dark in the following situations:
- When you power down the XB 13 with no charger connected.
- When the charger IS present but the speaker is full. This lamp is OFF in this situation.
- And finally, the CHARGE light is OFF when the speaker is ON, but the battery is not low. The lamp is dark as long as the unit needs no charging.
2. The Sony XB13 Charging Indicator Light Flashes Orange
With the charger not present, the XB13 powered ON, and the battery very low, the CHARGE light starts blinking orange. This means that the speaker will soon shut off due to a dead speaker. So for continued play, you should put it on the charge soon.
3. Sony SRS XB13 Charging Indicator Lamp Doubles as a Charging Light
The CHARGE lamp glows orange (no flashing) as the XB13 recharges, as shown in the next picture. On this speaker, this glowing light is the only visual means of knowing that charging is going on. But it does not display how far along the charging is.
Also note that this light should never flash during charging. If it does, then either your charger is not functioning well, or your USB cable is bad. Or the speaker itself may be faulty.
4. When the Charging Indicator Goes Out While Charging, Then Charging is Complete
As charging continues, the Charging Indicator keeps glowing, But eventually, recharging finishes. Then the lamp changes to show this. Specifically, It turns OFF when the speaker is OFF, and stays OFF when the XB13 is ON.
5. The Sony SRS XB13 Charging Indicator Is Not Much of a Charge Remaining Meter
When unplugged from the charger, what was the charging indicator becomes the charge left indicator. Well sort of. If it is dark when the speaker is ON, then the speaker has some time remaining. However you cannot tell how much just by reading this lamp.
