The left front view of the Sony SRS XG300 speaker.
Here, we show you how to hard reset your Sony SRS XG300 mini boombox speaker to its default settings. Hard resetting restores the XG300 to factory default state. Plus, doing this clears any earlier paired Bluetooth devices from memory. We might want to delete these to prevent this speaker from pairing to any nearby Bluetooth devices. Also, reset to prepare it for sale or re-gifting. Or, hard reset to stop this speaker from pairing with devices you no longer have interest in.
Press and release the Power button for a half-second or so. Find this button.
Then, the status light comes on, as we see next. This light we find just above the Power button on the front left buttons panel. It’s the leftmost button of the three there.
The speaker makes a rising electronic sound as it boots, whether it connects to a nearby device or not. But in either case, this reset routine works the same, as follows.
Both of these buttons we find on the top panel. The Mega Bass button is in the left buttons panel, and is the farthest right in that panel. The Play-Pause button is in the right buttons panel, and is the leftmost button in that panel.
Then, hold both buttons in until all lamps go out. Also, the unit plays a power-off sound, and then the speaker shuts down. This takes around five seconds as hard reset progresses.
Next, the speaker powers OFF, and the Power and Pairing lamps go dark.
You may release the buttons when all the lights go dark.
Next, power on the XG 300 once more, as described in step 1 above.
Note that after a hard reset, this speaker comes up in pairing mode. The Pairing lamp blinks in a pulse-pulse-pause, pulse-pulse-pause pattern to tell you this.
This is a signal for you to look for this speaker on a nearby BT device. Then pair to it if you so desire.
The hard reset is now complete. So you may now sell or gift the unit, or pair it again with your favorite Bluetooth devices.
After a hard reset, the speaker no longer automatically connects with any previously paired device. Thus, to restore this auto syncing, you manually pair the XG300 with a device. Then whenever both speaker and that device are in range and have Bluetooth ON, pairing automatically takes place again.
